St. Bonaventure Catholic Community has a large site in Bloomington and a vibrant, involved congregation and school. Unfortunately, the building was in need of an exterior facelift and a youth room to attract teenagers. Vanman designed a youth room with the intention of connecting the church and school in future phases, as well as added a much-needed meeting room. Another need for the church was a gathering space, so Vanman pushed the entry out, creating fellowship space and a more welcoming facade. All of the additions were built to appear a part of the existing building. Vanman also redesigned the accessory entries to connect to the fellowship space.
