Construction Manager Engineer

Job Description

Are you looking for a chance to grow your career?
Does a mix of project oversight, collaboration with clients and colleagues, and days filled with variety excite you?
Are you tired of being under-appreciated and over-worked?

If any of these questions struck a chord, we’d like to talk to you!

We’ve been designing and building places that matter for more than 67 years. We put our design-build experience to work to benefit clients with streamlined communication and the innovation that comes from having architectural and construction staff under the same roof. We focus on designing and building primarily churches and financial institutions, along with a mix of other commercial projects.

In everything we do, we remain focused on our company core values:

  1. Care. We genuinely care about each other, the work we do, and our clients both as individuals and as a group. We care about building things that matter and for the greater good of the world around us.
  2. Transparency. We are open, honest, and forthright. We believe transparency results in stronger relationships.
  3. Fun. We work hard and celebrate our successes. Our aim is to make the design-build process as enjoyable as possible.
  4. Self-starter. We take pride in balancing several projects at once, trusting our team to do what’s needed for clients and one another to keep the right tasks moving forward.
  5. Team-oriented. We believe our team is more than our Vanman colleagues. We collaborate with our clients, partners, and one another to design and build places that matter in the community.

The Vanman Team is built on longevity. We have team members who have spent their entire careers with Vanman (one at thirty+ years, another at 22 years and another at eight). They stay because of the flexibility of the hybrid in-office and work-from-home schedule, the family-oriented environment, and the camaraderie with a team who works hard, celebrates successes together, and develops lasting relationships both with clients and with one another.

We are seeking an eager Construction Project Engineer to join our team. If you have two to five years of experience supporting Construction Project Managers and Construction Superintendents, we’d love to learn more about you. The Construction Project Engineer position is a full-time, salaried role.

Primary duties include:

  • Supporting Project Managers in the management of projects from architectural development through completion.
  • Working with our in-house architectural staff from design to project completion, providing conceptual and cost estimates and analysis as needed.
  • Communicating with clients and other project partners throughout the project.
  • Completing project set-up in Procore, assisting with contract award analysis, and permit submissions.
  • Soliciting, reviewing and qualifying bids from suppliers and writing subcontracts using Procore.
  • Ordering materials, tracking and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules in Procore, coordinating with the field superintendent daily and at weekly onsite meetings.
  • Preparing monthly draw requests.
  • Managing review of shop drawings, submittals, specifications, and change orders
  • Completing project closeout, achieving the certificate of occupancy and preparation of owner’s manual, including as-built drawings and warranty information.
  • Participating in regular team meetings and events.
  • Other duties in support of project and company objectives.

Your experience should include supporting or managing commercial remodeling and/or ground-up projects, along with a Construction Management or related degree. If you have experience with structural steel, wood frame, block, and tilt-up precast concrete, even better!
