Construction Superintendent

Job Description

Are you looking for a chance to grow your career?
Does a mix of project oversight, collaboration with clients and colleagues, and days filled with variety excite you?
Are you tired of being under-appreciated and over-worked?

If any of these questions struck a chord with you, we’d like to talk to you!

We’ve been designing and building places that matter for more than 67 years. We put our design-build experience to work to benefit clients with streamlined communication and the innovation that comes from having architectural and construction staff under the same roof. We focus on designing and building primarily churches and financial institutions, along with a mix of other commercial projects.

In everything we do, we remain focused on our company core values:

  1. We genuinely care about each other, the work we do, and our clients both as individuals and as a group. We care about building things that matter and for the greater good of the world around us.
  2. We are open, honest, and forthright. We believe transparency results in stronger relationships.
  3. We work hard and celebrate our successes. Our aim is to make the design-build process as enjoyable as possible.
  4. Self-starter. We take pride in balancing several projects at once, trusting our team to do what’s needed for clients and one another to keep the right tasks moving forward.
  5. Team-oriented. We believe our team is more than our Vanman colleagues. We collaborate with our clients, partners, and one another to design and build places that matter in the community.

The Vanman Team is built on longevity. We have team members who have spent their entire careers with Vanman (one at thirty+ years, another at 22 years and another at eight). They stay because of the flexibility, the family-oriented environment, and the camaraderie of a team who works hard, celebrates successes together, and develops lasting relationships both with clients and with one another.

We are seeking a Construction Superintendent to join our team. If you have five years of experience managing commercial remodeling and/or ground-up projects and hold a Construction Management or related degree (preferred), or have equivalent work experience, we’d love to learn more about you. The Construction Superintendent position is a full-time, salaried role.

Primary duties include:

  • Collaborate with Construction Project Manager and client to determine scheduling and material needs,
  • Manage subcontractors on onsite construction projects,
  • Create, track and communicate project schedules in MS Project for subs and materials,
  • Maintain daily log and photos in Procore,
  • Manage change requests and RFIs in Procore,
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and support enforcement where necessary,
  • Hold regular onsite construction and safety meetings with subcontractors,
  • Collaborate with architects and job captains as part of the non-adversarial, team-oriented design-build process throughout the project,
  • Communicate with clients throughout the project,
  • Assist with project close-out duties,
  • Participate in regular team meetings and events,
  • Other duties in support of project and company objectives.

Your experience should include managing commercial remodeling and/or ground-up projects, along with a Construction Management, a related degree, or equivalent work experience.  If you have worked with structural steel, wood frame, block, and tilt-up precast concrete, even better!  Technical skill with MS Office and MS Project and construction industry programs such as Procore and Bluebeam are required.
